Raising and Releasing Children: A Balanced Parenting Approach
Having a baby changes life instantly. But the change doesn't end there. As children grow, they become individuals with their own ideas, interests, and perspectives different from their parents. In this process, the most important thing is to support children and allow them to find their own way.
But how easy is it for parents to "let go" of their children? Research shows that it is more difficult than most parents think.
Why Is It Hard to Let Go of Children?
The topic of "letting children be free" is one of the most discussed among parents. Moreover, this process does not only start in adolescence.
✔️ Children, at much earlier ages:
- Want to make their own decisions
- Exhibit independent behaviors
- Begin to differentiate themselves from their parents
According to the research, approximately 42% of parents find it difficult to let go of their children as they grow up.
Younger Parents Struggle More
According to the research results:
- 54% of parents under 30 struggle to let go of their children
- This rate is 44% for parents aged 30–49
This indicates that as experience increases, parents develop a more relaxed approach.
Giving Children Choices Is Very Important
One of the most effective ways to support children's development is to involve them in daily decisions:
- What they wear
- What they eat
- Which personal care products they use
According to the research, 43% of parents allow their children to choose their own personal care products.
This seemingly small step is actually of great importance for a child's self-confidence.
Lack of Products for Children Approaching Adolescence
Approximately 23% of parents believe that there are not enough suitable personal care products, such as shower gel and shampoo, for growing children.
Existing products are usually:
- Either too childish
- Or aimed at adults
This makes choosing the right product difficult, especially for children approaching adolescence.
